Business Excellence Awards

Since 1991, the Business Excellence Awards (BEA) has become the premier event of the year, recognizing the achievements and contributions of business leaders in Windsor and Essex County. In 1996, the Chamber introduced the acclaimed ATHENA Award to further honour outstanding business individuals.

Award winners in 10 categories will be announced on April 23, 2014 at the Business Excellence Awards. Also included in the awards ceremony are the recipients of the Believe Windsor Essex and ATHENA Awards.

This annual event, the Chamber's largest, brings together business, government and industry leaders. With extraordinary exposure and prestige, the BEA is an exciting gala night and has become a must-attend event. It is truly a special evening, drawing over 700 Chamber members and guests in past years. Don't miss this opportunity to celebrate business excellence in our region.

Meet This Year's Hosts!

Houida Kassem

A busy, devoted mother of two sons, Houida Kassem was born in London, Ontario, but raised in Windsor. She began her career working in media, in January 1999 on the show, “Plugged in.” With a gift to interact with the public, Houida quickly moved from reporter to show host as well as producer – interviewing the likes of Nelly Furtado and Sam Roberts, live from the Canadian Juno Awards on more than one occasion.

Houida also co-hosted a spot on Delaware Nights, a CASCAR racing series, which aired across Ontario. In the fall of 2000, Houida was selected to co-host the afternoon talk show,
‘Daytime,’ alongside Jeff McArthur of FM96.

Just a year into her time with Rogers, Houida became Windsor’s popular Morning Show Host on A-Channel, with a focus on showcasing local businesses, events and people as well as interviewing the likes of Dr. Phil, Chris Noth (Mr. Big from Sex and the City), Aretha Franklin, Carrie Underwood and more! After nearly a decade of live broadcasting, “AChannel Morning” – a show that had achieved number one ratings for the region of South Western Ontario (beating Good Morning America and The Today Show in our viewing region), was canceled by a downsizing decision made by CTV.

With the gap that was left in the Windsor market as a result, on June 8th, 2009, this local starlet founded Today’s Windsor – with the objective of making local media fully accessible to the people of Windsor and Essex County.

Along with being the Host and Producer of Today’s Windsor, Houida launched a new show called Houida And Friends. “The View” type format is also cohosted by Melanie Gardin, Nancy Duffy and Karen Hall. It features lifestyle and entertainment type segments that will educate, inform and enlighten the audience. The show airs on TVCOGECO Cable 11, Friday’s and Sundays at 7

When you can’t find her online or on the airways, you’re likely to find Houida hosting events with Caesar’s Windsor as well at charitable gatherings and galas throughout the city or as a spokesperson for many charities including World Vision and The Canadian Mental Health Association.
