Windsor-Essex Regional Chamber to Attend Ontario Chamber of Commerce Annual General Meeting to Discuss Key Regional Issues

Windsor-Essex Regional Chamber of Commerce (WERCC) President & CEO Matt Marchand and Chair of the Board Dr. Janice Forsyth will be attending the Ontario Chamber of Commerce (OCC) Annual General Meeting April 28 – May 1 in Oakville, Ontario, to discuss key regional issues such as TPP, Skills Gap, Cap & Trade, Transparency on Development Charges, Funding for Connecting Link Program and Supporting Ontario’s Steel Industry and its Supply Chain Clusters.

The contributions of AGM delegates in previous years have resulted in many advocacy successes. The OCC’s efforts to mitigate the impacts of the Ontario Retirement Pension Plan (ORPP) on business and to ensure that Ontario’s electricity rates are competitive, for example, were driven by policy resolutions submitted by local chambers and boards of trade in previous years.

In 2015, the WERCC secured Chamber network support for the Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act (PACA) and the Travel Rebate Incentive Plan (TRIP). In 2014, the WERCC secured support for Year-Round Greenhouse Growing Operations, Energy Cost Competitiveness and Workforce Development for the Agri-Food Industry.

Previous successes also include Single Sports Betting and an Auto Strategy.

“We look forward to bringing regional issues to the forefront at the OCC AGM this weekend and advocating for key issues impacting our business community,” said WERCC President & CEO Matt Marchand.
