Windsor-Essex Regional Chamber Participating in Town Hall Meeting on the Trans-Pacific Partnership

Windsor-Essex Regional Chamber of Commerce (WERCC) President & CEO Matt Marchand will be featured as a Guest Speaker in a Town Hall Meeting on the Trans-Pacific Partnership held by Essex MP Tracey Ramsey on Saturday, August 6, 2016, 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Good Neighbour Club, located at 272 St. Paul St. in Belle River. Also in attendance as a Guest Speaker is Chris Taylor, President, UNIFOR Local 200.

The Town Hall will focus on discussing the realities and problems with the TPP trade agreement.

The WERCC was one of the first Chambers to ask for more details on the TPP and has expressed concerns about the trade documents and what it could mean for Windsor-Essex businesses and economy. In May 2016, Marchand advocated for the region in front of the House of Commons International Trade Committee’s TPP Public Consultation. Additionally, the WERCC was successful in getting Chambers across Ontario to ask the government to defer a parliamentary debate on TPP until after the federal election to ensure maximum flexibility.
