Volunteer Committees

Volunteer committees are continually active addressing issues and keeping you informed. The Chamber supports the work of numerous committees, which meet on a regular basis to monitor areas of interest and concern. These committees include: After Business, ATHENA, Business Excellence Awards, Environment & Energy, Finance & Taxation, Golf, Government Relations, Membership Services & Development, and Transportation. As a member you are encouraged to join one of our committees.

POLICY COMMITTEES

Environment and Energy Policy
Chair: David McGregor, Brighton Beach Power LP.

Promotes awareness of environmental and energy issues within the business community and the community at large through research and recommendations in matters of environment and energy related legislation at the municipal, provincial and national level. The committee encourages ethical and environmentally responsible business decision-making amongst Chamber members with respect to the purchasing, manufacturing, recycling, and resource conservation.

Finance and Taxation Policy
Chair: Robert Rea, Canadian Joist & Deck Corporation

Responsible for assisting members through their research and recommendation in matters of taxation and finance-related legislation at the municipal, provincial and national level.

Government Relations Policy
Chair: Mary Ann Wenzler-Wiebe, Business Development Bank of Canada

Oversees the Chamber’s policy and advocacy program, working with other Chamber volunteers to develop and communicate Chamber positions affecting the Windsor Essex business community to Chamber members, all levels of government and the public.

Transportantion Policy

Works regularly on matters related to transportation in Windsor, Essex County, Ontario, Canada and the United States. Issues related to supply and competition, framework legislation for the industries, infrastructure investments, such as airports, highways, ports, railways and border crossings are purview of this Committee.

Membership Services and Development

Working in partnership with the Windsor and Essex County business community and related organizations and agencies to enhance the effectiveness of the Chamber in the development and delivery of value-added services to the membership and significantly expand the membership in Windsor and Essex County.

The Committee plans and executes five successful networking and mini trade show forums. This venue allows member locations and sponsors the opportunity to highlight their facility, services and programs.

This Committee works to ensure this annual gala event continues to recognize and honour businesses and individuals who achieve “excellence” for themselves and our community.

This Task Force, executes and implements a prestigious "ball" that attracts a high quality business audience that serves as an annual dedicated revenue generating source for the Chamber.

The Committee begins planning this event in December and works eagerly to the mid June date. This is an excellent opportunity to meet and network with members and their guests. The fact that it is a sold out event each year proves how hard they work at ensuring its success.
