Peter Hrastovec has always balanced his legal career with a keen
interest and involvement in his community. As partner in
charge of the Windsor office, Peter has built a career
focusing on two areas: commercial litigation and
employment and labour law.
With in-depth expertise in all employment matters
-including wrongful dismissal, occupational health and
safety issues, human rights, workers' compensation,
employment standards and professional discipline - Peter
has appeared before various administrative tribunals,
civil courts and the Ontario Court of Appeal.
He also has a strong interest and an effective record in
resolving differences through ongoing employment
consulting and helping clients avoid litigation by solving
conflicts before they develop. To enhance his skills as an
advocate, he completed a certificate in mediation from the
Harvard Mediation Workshop.
A graduate of the University of Windsor and its Faculty of
Law, Peter was called to the Bar in 1984 and remains
actively involved in his profession, through his
memberships in the Law Society of Upper Canada, the
Canadian Bar Association, the Essex Law Association and
the Advocates' Society. As a guest lecturer, Peter has
returned to the University of Windsor on a regular basis,
both as an instructor on law and as a lecturer on ethics
and practice. He is also a past editor of the Essex Law
Association's Caveat Magazine and has contributed to the
Lawyers Weekly
A long time supporter of his community, Peter is past
president of the Windsor Symphony Society, a director with
the Windsor and District Chamber of Commerce, co-chair of
the University of Windsor Faculty of Law 2000-4-2000
Fundraising Campaign, a past-President of the University
of Windsor Alumnae Association, a past circuit speaker for
the United Way's Volunteer Leadership Development Program,
and a past chair of many Rotary Club committees. He is
also a Paul Harris Fellow.
A first-generation Canadian, Peter is fluent in both
English and Croatian. He and his wife Denise have three
children.
