David Ramsay, Parliamentary Assistant to Premier Dalton McGuinty, is conducting broad-based consultations that will culminate in a report to the Premier outlining the challenges faced by small and medium sized manufacturers. The report will contain a series of recommendations to address the changing economic, competitiveness and training needs of this very important sector of the Ontario economy.

In order to provide sound advice to the government, the Ontario Chamber of Commerce requests its members in the manufacturing sector to complete the following survey. The results will be promptly delivered to MPP David Ramsay for inclusion in his report to the Premier. Please respond to this survey by 12:00 pm, Friday, February 8. 2008 CITY OF WINDSOR BUDGET DELIBERATIONS - FEBRUARY 26-27, 2008

City Hall - 2008 Budget will be decided by City of Windsor Council in a public session scheduled for February 26 and 27, 2008.

On February 26, 2008 the Windsor & District Chamber of Commerce will address Windsor City Council regarding the 2008 Budget.

The draft budget which was tabled January 31, 2008 is a result of a budget process that among other strategies targeted discretionary spending by all City departments and recommends less than 1% tax rate increase.

The Chamber will call for the City cut to reduce its business tax rates. Currently Windsor has among the highest business tax rates in the Province.

MORE PUBLIC INPUT ALLOWED INTO OLDE SANDWICH INTERIM CONTROL BY-LAW

On January 25th, 2008 Windsor City Council called a special meeting to deal with the current Olde Sandwich Interim Control By-Law. The Chamber issued a letter requesting more time to review the Council report.

To allow more public participation and input, Council has extended the Interim Control By-Law for one month and has indicated it will discuss the issue on February 25th, 2008. The Chamber is currently reviewing the report and assessing the impact this By-Law may have on the business community.

If your business has been impacted or for more information on this By-Law contact Igor Siljanoski at (519) 966-3696 ext. 28.
