Senior Economist and Auto Industry Specialist with Scotiabank


Mr. Gomes will discuss the outlook for the North American and Global economies, with a special focus on industries key to the Windsor-Essex region.

He will focus on:

The sustainability of the North American auto demand recovery

The rebound underway in the Canadian auto parts sector

The growing importance of the agri-food industry


Carlos manages the Industry Research Group at Scotiabank Economics, and is responsible fore covering the automobile sector, as well as providing in-depth analysis on serveral other industries. He works closely with Global Risk Management to assess the outlook for industries key to Scotiabank's loan portfolio.

Mr. Gomes joined Scotiabank after receiving a Master degree from York University and has been with Scotiabank for more than two decades. During his tenure at Scotiabank, Carlos also obtained a Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
