The ATHENA
Committee of the Windsor & District Chamber of Commerce
was established to bring this wonderful initiative to the
community of Windsor and Essex County.
The ATHENA Program has three elements:
The ATHENA
Scholarship Program was created in 1999 for full-time
post-secondary students between the ages of 18 and 30 years old.
As well as having excellent academic achievement, recipients
must be interested in increasing leadership opportunities for
women and enhancing the quality of life in our community.
It is supported by generous donations from private citizens,
corporations, professions, academic institutions and community
organizations. In 2004 the ATHENA Scholarship Fund
(Windsor) was established as a charity and is a member of the
Greater Windsor Community Foundation. For

THEN YOU SHOULD APPLY FOR
AN
ATHENA SCHOLARSHIP
A
total of three $3,000 scholarships will be awarded to worthy
scholars selected as follows: one from St. Clair College, one
from the University of Windsor and one from any college or
university attended by a student who has spent a significant
period of time in Windsor/Essex County. Scholarship
recipients will also receive a trip to Chicago (including travel
and registration) to attend the International ATHENA Leadership
Conference on April 17 – 18, 2007. Recipients must
attend the annual ATHENA Scholarship presentation event.
TO
QUALIFY APPLICANTS MUST …

Demonstrate a community spirit that benefits people;
·
Demonstrate a potential for leadership;
·
Demonstrate professional excellence;
·
Submit transcript of marks;
·
Submit three referee forms with letters of reference in
confidence;
·
Provide a personal profile explaining your career
plans, personal goals and objectives;
·
Provide a resume.
Deadline
for submission of applications is February 23, 2007 (5:00 p.m.).

Scholarship Luncheon
Since
2001 the ATHENA Committee has hosted an ATHENA Scholarship
Luncheon to honour the ATHENA Scholarship recipients,
to acknowledge its generous sponsors and to feature a
speaker of influence who exemplifies its values.
ATHENA Award
Windsor
became the first Canadian city to present the ATHENA Award in
1996. The award honours men and women who are recognized
for business and professional excellence, for community service,
and for mentoring and providing a role model to encourage women
to achieve their leadership potential. The ATHENA Award is
sponsored by Dan Kane Chevrolet Cadillac Ltd. and is presented
each year at the Chamber’s Business Excellence Awards Gala.
